The book was a memoir of the former boxing champion of the 1940s who had made his reputation as a fearless fighter who could take (and seemed to enjoy) punishment from his opponent as few boxers do. His latest film is "The Irishman" (on which he reunites with Scorsese), starring Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Al Pacino.
